SA’s ‘most viewed’ homes of 2021 


The most popular property listings on realestate.com.au in 2021 have been revealed. A stately chateau in the hills, a 1930s character home, and a modest Italian-style hamlet are among them.


The following are the top ten most popular residences in South Australia:



1. Aldgate, 178-180 Old Mount Barker Road



Chateau Avalon, located in the heart of Aldgate in the magnificent Adelaide Hills, is more than simply another great mansion.



The grandiose home, designed and built by a German engineer, consists of six major linked circular towers on more than a hectare of beautiful grounds.



The most popular listing had 67,384 views, and considering that it is for sale, those numbers are certain to increase.


The five-bedroom, six-bathroom home has a dramatic double helix spiral staircase with floating timber balustrades that runs from the ground floor to levels one and two.




2. Unley Park, 21 Whistler Avenue




This beautiful Queen Anne home was built in 1915 and meticulously renovated by the current owners, who also added a contemporary addition.


The five-bedroom, two-bathroom home, which was built in October of this year, is the second most viewed property in South Africa for 2021, with 58,070 views.


A floodlit tennis court, a solar-heated swimming pool, and a big wine cellar are all included in the property.


3. Austral Terrace, Malvern (37 Austral Terrace)



Househunters were on the lookout for unique properties this year. This sandstone Queen Anne home has an outstanding corner position with 43,821 views.



Character aspects throughout the four-bedroom home include high ornate ceilings, cornices, and towering antique fireplaces.



The verandah terraces of the home lead to a swimming pool, and the grounds also include a tennis court.


Tranmere, 43 Brookside Avenue



This magnificent property was built in 2016 and sold in August of this year. It stands on a 945sq m property in one of Adelaide's most sought-after areas.



The five-bedroom property boasts classic English-style grounds with magnificent fruit trees and enough of space for entertaining guests, with 36,023 views.


5. Goodwood, 24 Angus Street


The value of this 1930s Tudor-style character home with contemporary furnishings was 31,795 dollars.


Located in one of Adelaide’s much sought-after city-fringe suburbs, the home has underwent renovations, completed in 2020, to cater for modern-day family living.

It has four spacious bedrooms, multiple living areas and three luxurious bathrooms.

6. 20 Angus Street, Goodwood

This four-bedroom, two-bathroom home exudes character.

Proximity to the vibrant Goodwood shopping hub, which also offers multiple dining options, adds to its charm.

The multiple living areas include a lounge room and family room, with a fireplace each, and a light-filled dining area.

This listing got 30,241 views.

7. 26 Hill Street, Crafers West

This two-bedroom, Italian peasant-style cottage in Crafers West was viewed more than 28,000 times. Incidentally, its first open inspection was so busy that police were called in to manage traffic.

Known as Rossini’s Cottage, this charming residence overlooks an apple orchard and stunning views.

Built from local freestone, the property saw immense interest from buyers and sold in September this year.

8. 2 Rio Vista Avenue, West Beach

First in the spotlight when it featured on a reality renovation show, this New York loft-style home amassed 28,517 views.

It was also home to former House Rules stars Jared Petrenko and Jess Dover who sold it for an undisclosed price at an auction.

9. 95 Palmer Place, North Adelaide

A stunning home in a prime location, 95 Palmer Place was painstakingly renovated by its owner.

Built in 1883 for industrialist George Phillip Doolette, it also housed the Kindergarten Teachers Training College of Adelaide, before becoming a private home again.

Ideal for a large family, it got more than 26,000 views, and is currently up for sale.
